Merciless and Ruthless by Gina L Maxwell (Playboys in Love #2 and #3) - 5 Stars [arc review]

This is Emi and Austin's story, it can be read as a standalone, but it is the third story in the Playboys in Love series. Ruthless, the second, is still my favorite. For some reason I didn't post my review of Ruthless here at the time, so you will find it bellow this post.

Merciless was freaking adorable! Emi and Austin were so sweet and perfect for each other. For a book that has a somewhat taboo subject, it was surprising to me how romantic and sweet it all was. I didn't even notice the kink 🤣
(seriously didn't. Maybe there is something wrong with me! Haha)

The Blurb:
I’m not always the hero. Sometimes, I’m merciless.

My whole life I've been the good guy—loyal friend, helpful son, dedicated firefighter—but in the bedroom I'm someone else. That’s where my inner villain likes to come out and play.

With a kink as taboo as mine, it’s too risky to play with anyone who doesn’t crave it like I do, so I’ve gotten used to depriving that side of me.

Then I see HER. She’s the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen and my darker half recognizes itself in her mysterious brown eyes. She’s everything I could ever want and thought I would never find.

Our arrangement may seem twisted to everyone else, but the sex is explosive—and soon my soul is demanding to own every part of her. We come from different worlds that want to tear us apart, but I won’t give up on our future.

For her, I will fight. And I will be…MERCILESS.

I already loved Austin in Ruthless. He is charming, witty, funny, caring, hot... what is not to love right? Fireman by day and stripper by night. A combo many would find hard to resist.
His personally will win you over instantly. He has a huge caring heart and is very loyal to those he loves.
Emi had a different upbringing them him, she comes from a very rich family and rather sheltered life. That being said, she is a match to Austin in every way. She is also very caring, loving and loyal to those she loves.
They are truly perfect for each other. Merciless was beautifully written. It is obvious that Gina made great effort to make their story a loving one so that the reader would have no doubt that Austin was always careful and caring with Emi. There was never any doubt that their bedroom fantasies were consensual and enjoyable to both of them.
This series is the only one I've read by Gina L Maxwell. I think it is time to see what else she has out there!

RUTHLESS review:

Holly Mother of Smut!
What on earth was that?
I finished this VERY hot and steamy book in one sitting and I don't know what to do with my feelings. One thing for sure though, I need a fan :) this was hot hot hot
AND it had humour! always a plus.
My favorite adult romance writers all add a healthy dosage of humour to their books and Gina Maxwell had me intrigued and laughing from the very first pages.

Roman was pure perfection. Successful attorney by day and hot dancer by night! I was intrigued and in love immediately. His two sides were unique, blended well together, and were both breathtaking.
Addison was a firecracker and deserving of her Wildcat nickname. Her sassiness and confidence won her many points with me.
They were truly perfect for each other.

Quickies, April 2021

I read a good amount of older releases this past two months. I will not write long individual reviews for every single one of them but here are is a little bit about each one of them:  - Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh It's unlikely I will ever dislike something Nalini writes. She is a master of her craft. This is the second book in the Psy-Changeling series and it is just as good as the first. Shy and isolated Faith is plagued by visions of blood and murder. She has questions and needs help but can't ask those around her. She turns to the changelings and the only Psy she knows that has defied her race (first book in the series). Vaughn is more cat than human but has to control his instincts not to scare Faith away. This was a fabulous paranormal romance read but you really must read the first book first! 4 stars from me :)  - Desperate Measures by Katee Robert Desperate Measures is the story of Jafar and Jasmine. But if you read Katee before you know it is not that simple at

The Last Tiara by M.J. Rose

The Last Tiara  by M.J. Rose is inspired by a real missing Russian Crown Jewel. She explains in an article to The Adventurine  how she stumbled upon an NPR article about the disappearance of missing Russian Crown Jewels that to date, have not been found. Captivated by it and how such amazing items could simply disappear she decides her new novel will tell the story of the lost tiara.  It is apparent throughout the book that M.J. Rose researched well the Romanov Jewels, the Russian Evolution, and especially the impact it had on the Russian people. Although she never goes into details, the poverty and difficulties the people experienced at the time are carefully and respectfully mentioned.  The book is told from two different perspectives, that of mother and daughter. The alternating chapters reveal Sofiya's life in Russia from 1915 through 1922, and Isobelle's in 1948 Manhattan, US. First we have Isabelle, an young architect in post World War II Manhattan . While renovating her

A Touch of Darkness (Hades & Persephone #1) by Scarlett St. Clair

I knew very little going into this book except that it had my current favorite bad boy in it: Hades! Seriously though, I have a "hades tbr" at the moment, it's a thing. And if you know any good Hades based romances do tell me. Always and forever looking for more. Hades, the God of the Dead was phenomenal. I have ZERO complaints about his character. There was more to the underworld than known by other gods and humans, and the same is true about the man that runs the place. He is to the point and although not always up front and straight forward he is always honest and true. He has built a gambling empire but his bets are not always monetary and they are known for being impossible.  Persephone was very much still learning who she really was. Up until meeting Hades and for some time after she has no power of her own. Plants die at her touch and that is that. She is also known as the goddess of spring, but that is not because of who she is but rather because of who her mother
