Merciless and Ruthless by Gina L Maxwell (Playboys in Love #2 and #3) - 5 Stars [arc review]

This is Emi and Austin's story, it can be read as a standalone, but it is the third story in the Playboys in Love series. Ruthless, the second, is still my favorite. For some reason I didn't post my review of Ruthless here at the time, so you will find it bellow this post.

Merciless was freaking adorable! Emi and Austin were so sweet and perfect for each other. For a book that has a somewhat taboo subject, it was surprising to me how romantic and sweet it all was. I didn't even notice the kink 🤣
(seriously didn't. Maybe there is something wrong with me! Haha)

The Blurb:
I’m not always the hero. Sometimes, I’m merciless.

My whole life I've been the good guy—loyal friend, helpful son, dedicated firefighter—but in the bedroom I'm someone else. That’s where my inner villain likes to come out and play.

With a kink as taboo as mine, it’s too risky to play with anyone who doesn’t crave it like I do, so I’ve gotten used to depriving that side of me.

Then I see HER. She’s the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen and my darker half recognizes itself in her mysterious brown eyes. She’s everything I could ever want and thought I would never find.

Our arrangement may seem twisted to everyone else, but the sex is explosive—and soon my soul is demanding to own every part of her. We come from different worlds that want to tear us apart, but I won’t give up on our future.

For her, I will fight. And I will be…MERCILESS.

I already loved Austin in Ruthless. He is charming, witty, funny, caring, hot... what is not to love right? Fireman by day and stripper by night. A combo many would find hard to resist.
His personally will win you over instantly. He has a huge caring heart and is very loyal to those he loves.
Emi had a different upbringing them him, she comes from a very rich family and rather sheltered life. That being said, she is a match to Austin in every way. She is also very caring, loving and loyal to those she loves.
They are truly perfect for each other. Merciless was beautifully written. It is obvious that Gina made great effort to make their story a loving one so that the reader would have no doubt that Austin was always careful and caring with Emi. There was never any doubt that their bedroom fantasies were consensual and enjoyable to both of them.
This series is the only one I've read by Gina L Maxwell. I think it is time to see what else she has out there!

RUTHLESS review:

Holly Mother of Smut!
What on earth was that?
I finished this VERY hot and steamy book in one sitting and I don't know what to do with my feelings. One thing for sure though, I need a fan :) this was hot hot hot
AND it had humour! always a plus.
My favorite adult romance writers all add a healthy dosage of humour to their books and Gina Maxwell had me intrigued and laughing from the very first pages.

Roman was pure perfection. Successful attorney by day and hot dancer by night! I was intrigued and in love immediately. His two sides were unique, blended well together, and were both breathtaking.
Addison was a firecracker and deserving of her Wildcat nickname. Her sassiness and confidence won her many points with me.
They were truly perfect for each other.

A Romance Catch Up!

It has been a crazy month and I fell behind badly on my reviews! But here are some highlights for you. Barbarian Lover (Ice Planet Barbarians #3) Ruby Dixon  2.75/5 Although I liked this one it is my least favorite in the series so far. The book was going well until a little over the halfway point when it just doesn't read right. She accepts leaving someone behind too easily and although up to this point the book does a good job at dealing with infertility it all of sudden throws it all out of the window. So good, I will carry on with the series, but not great. A Precious Jewel (Stapleton-Downes #2) Mary Balogh  3/5 This was different, unique. And I like that about it. I have not read any other book quite like it. She is a prostitute;  he starts of as just any other client. The story was sweet and interesting . The MC comes across  rather clueless at times,  but it is somewhat endearing. The romance is believable  and they make a very charming couple! The Gunslinger's Guide to

Radiant Sin (Dark olympus) by Katee Robert [arc review]

This is sadly, not going to be a very popular review. I adore Katee Robert. But this one just wasn't for me. It wasn't a terrible book or anything like that, it just left me wanting more and very puzzled. Every one of the books in this series follows a certain trope and/or subplot genre. Neon Gods is very much a Greek Mythology retelling;  Electric Idol  has the plus size influencer and the sweet bad boy, it is a very modern contemporary romance;  Wicked Beauty , and my favorite so far has that hunger games/dystopian vibe. Radiant Sin  is a murder mystery. The 'one house'/'one train' style that has always been so popular. Here lies problem number one for me, because I don't like murder mysteries at all. Even on my teen years when I read a lot of mystery it was never those. Problem two- there were way too many characters in that house, and they all got their time on the page making it one very confusing mess. It was very hard to follow at times. I think this

The Book Hater's Book Club by Gretchen Anthony

The Book Hater's Book Club  at first appears to be about a struggling bookstore and its imminent sale. Elliot, the co-owner of Over the Rainbow Bookstore, started  The Book Hater's Book Club , a newsletter of reading recommendations for the self-proclaimed non-readers of the world, because he believed there was a book out there for everyone. Something I wholeheartedly agree with! For years he and Irma have kept the store going and always had a recommendation in hand. When you finish this book, you will have yet another list of books to read.  However, this book is about more than just books and a struggling bookstore. It is also about grief, the price of secrets, and a little more grief.  You see, Elliot is gone, and his grief-ridden business partner has agreed to sell the store to developers. Problem is, she didn't tell that to anyone until the deal was almost done. Which is making her daughters ask questions. Why is she selling? Is it grief alone? Is there something else
