Glimpses Of My Books

I have managed to read a grand amount of 13 books this month. Much much better than August- Five books! Here is a line or two on each book read! 1- Cole by Tijan (New Adult Romance) 5/5  stars. Pure perfection! I enjoyed every minute of it. Tijan has most certainly won a place a the top with some of my favorite New Adult writers! This was a great bad boy/mafia romance. Maddison was a great female character, there was a lot of depth to her. And it was wonderful to cross paths with Cole again, he certainly was my favorite secondary character in the Carter Reed series. Before I started reading Truthwitch I asked my fellow bookstagrammers ( Insta Link ) what were their thoughts on this book. I got a LOT of mixed reviews, which left me rather curious about it. Every Bibliophile has those few authors that can never do wrong by them. The YA author that fits into that category for me is Morgan Rhodes, for paranormal romance is Jessie Donovan... but I didn't have one for New Adult books. I officially do: Tijan! Tower of Dawn took me by surprise. I was not expecting to like it so much. I was not expecting to have my opinions of both Chaol and Nesryn change as it did. I was most certainly not expecting the MIND blowing twist.  Tower of Dawn was everything I did not expect it to be. This was a rather emotional read for me. I usually write a review immediately after I finish a book, I needed to give this a day.  The most striking thing about it? How real it was. Anyone that says this book was not in touch with reality has clearly no understanding of what Mallory has experienced (or thinks their problems are the only real ones, sadly that does happen a lot).  The blurb: For some people, silence is a weapon. This was an "ok" read to me. There was nothing special about it, nothing different. At times was sweet and all you would hope from a New Adult book, at other times it was repetitive and boring. The plot is not original, it has well used themes. But themes that are well used because they work, because readers like them. I know I do!! Hence I was looking forward to it.  It is a story of high school friends who meet again later in life: friends to lovers, second chance in love. And it is the very popular story of a rich guy who falls for feisty and not so rich girl. I like those themes, they are common NA and they work. Well...most of the time they do. Dear all, stop all you are doing. I do not care what book you are reading, unless it is Godsgrave: STOP Godsgrave is better! I can almost promise you that. Nevernight was good, it was interesting, different, original... Godsgrave is better! A LOT better! When December comes and the voting begins for best book of the year Mr Kristoff will take my vote.  Absolutely brilliant!  Here is the book blurb for Godsgrave:  Blurb I did not miss one single character from the first book. Just another Shadowhunter story...  For the book blurb: Lord of Shadows GoodReads   I truly enjoy most Cassandra Clare stories, but I think I am, overall, getting a little tired of their predictability.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book. But there was a lot about it that I could have done without. It also dragged... and I very seldom can stand books that do that.  Lord of Shadows cannot, in my personal opinion be compared to Lady Midnight. LM was a much better book as a whole. The story moved a good paced, nothing felt forced. The same cannot be said about LoS. The good things: - Alec and Magnus give an appearance. One can never have enough of Alec and Magnus.  - Great family dynamics! I loved reading about the Blackthorn siblings in LM and even more here. Without them this book would have been a complete flop. OMG! I was still laughing and having giggle fits from this book hours and hours after I finished it. It was phenomenal. “You realize early in life that beauty is only skin-deep and, ugly goes straight to the bone”  This was steamy and hilarious. The main characters, Chloe and Bennett start of hating each other. Truly madly deeply hating each other! Their interactions are nothing short of comical. Even the steamy scenes are to some extend just hilarious. Mr Bennet Ryan is an ass. The boss from nightmares. Incredibly intelligent and accomplished in his business but arrogant and full of himself. He treat his employees like garbage. And that is why she hates him. She had very good reasons too. Now, he hates her for a  different reason. Chloe can dish out as good as she gets. And she does. She infuriates him. But what also infuriates him is that he is attracted to her. That somehow makes things worse, makes him hate her even more. He thinks he can get her out of his sys...

Roar was a fun and fast paced YA fantasy. I loved the world in which it was set and most of the characters were very interesting. Roar is about Aurora, and it is about magical storms. Aurora comes from a line of Stormlings, those who possess magic capable of dispelling the fiercest of storms. When she becomes of age she is meant to take her place among her family battling the storms. The problem is that Aurora has not yet shown any sign of magic within herself. In order to keep her secret a marriage is arranged between Aurora and a Stormling prince from another kingdom. He is secretive, dangerous and charming all at once.  Aurora follows him out of the castle one day and discovers there are other ways one can come to possess magic. So the day before the wedding she runs off with a bunch of Storm Hunters on the hopes they will teach her how to catch the heart of a storm and come to possess magic herself. I rather liked Aurora. Found this super fun tag in  this awesome blog  and Just had to give it a go 😃 What was the last book you read?   I just finished   Kian by Tijan , review is up. 2.  Was it a good one?     It was not her best work, but I still love her writing and I still really enjoyed it.  3.  What made it good? Tijan writes great epic romance stories. This was as intense and full of passion as you would hope from an NA book. 4.  Would you recommend it to other people?   I would recommend Tijan to all romance lovers.
