September Wrap-Up - 13 BoOkS

I have managed to read a grand amount of 13 books this month. Much much better than August- Five books! Here is a line or two on each book read! 1- Cole by Tijan (New Adult Romance) 5/5  stars. Pure perfection! I enjoyed every minute of it. Tijan has most certainly won a place a the top with some of my favorite New Adult writers! This was a great bad boy/mafia romance. Maddison was a great female character, there was a lot of depth to her. And it was wonderful to cross paths with Cole again, he certainly was my favorite secondary character in the Carter Reed series. For the full review please visit:  Cole 2- Kian by Tijan (New Adult Romance) 4/5 stars. Yes, it is official, I am hooked on Tijan's books. This one was just as good as all the others. Kian is freaking adorable! Who does not dream of man who loves you so much he is willing to kill for you? For Full review please visit:  kian 3- Plague Land by Alex Scarrow (arc) (YA- horrow/sci-fi) 3.7/5 stars....

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard 2/5 stars

Before I started reading Truthwitch I asked my fellow bookstagrammers ( Insta Link ) what were their thoughts on this book. I got a LOT of mixed reviews, which left me rather curious about it. As it turns out, there are good reasons for the mixed reviews, and I will get to those. But first, here is the book blurb:  Young witches Safiya and Iseult have a habit of finding trouble. After clashing with a powerful Guildmaster and his ruthless Bloodwitch bodyguard, the friends are forced to flee their home. Safi must avoid capture at all costs as she's a rare Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lies. Many would kill for her magic, so Safi must keep it hidden - lest she be used in the struggle between empires. And Iseult's true powers are hidden even from herself. In a chance encounter at Court, Safi meets Prince Merik and makes him a reluctant ally. However, his help may not slow down the Bloodwitch now hot on the girls' heels. All Safi and Iseult want is their freedom,...

Hate to Love You by Tijan - 5+/5 stars

Every Bibliophile has those few authors that can never do wrong by them. The YA author that fits into that category for me is Morgan Rhodes, for paranormal romance is Jessie Donovan... but I didn't have one for New Adult books. I officially do: Tijan! I am in love with Shay Coleman. Tijan's best and most perfect creation to date (of the books I have read of-course!) He said, his voice eerily soft, ‘When I see you’re hurting, I want to wipe it away. When I see you doubting yourself, I want to give you the best damned pep talk in history. When you cry, I want to make you smile. When you laugh, I want to make you laugh harder. When you moan in my arms, I want to make you dissolve into a puddle. When you’re insecure about how I feel about you, I want to replace that with a proclamation that I love you so hard that I never want you to question us again.’ Did you read that? Did you melt? I did!!! 😊 Here is the synopsis:  Rule #1: No hot guys. It might sou...

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas- 4.8/5 stars

Tower of Dawn took me by surprise. I was not expecting to like it so much. I was not expecting to have my opinions of both Chaol and Nesryn change as it did. I was most certainly not expecting the MIND blowing twist.  Tower of Dawn was everything I did not expect it to be. And surprisingly, because of that, it was yet another masterpiece work by the wonderful Sarah J Maas.  The book blurb as found in GoodReads: Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since the glass castle shattered, since his men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken. His only shot at recovery lies with the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme in Antica—the stronghold of the southern continent's mighty empire. And with war looming over Dorian and Aelin back home, their survival might lie with Chaol and Nesryn convincing...

The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L Armentrout - 5+/5 stars

This was a rather emotional read for me. I usually write a review immediately after I finish a book, I needed to give this a day.  The most striking thing about it? How real it was. Anyone that says this book was not in touch with reality has clearly no understanding of what Mallory has experienced (or thinks their problems are the only real ones, sadly that does happen a lot).  The blurb: For some people, silence is a weapon. For Mallory “Mouse” Dodge, it’s a shield. Growing up, she learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it’s been four years since her nightmare ended, she’s beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime. Now, after years of homeschooling with loving adoptive parents, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at public high school. But of all the terrifying and exhilarating scenarios she’s imagined, there’s one she never dreamed of—that she’d run into Rider Stark, the friend ...

Tycoon by Katie Evans 3/5 stars

This was an "ok" read to me. There was nothing special about it, nothing different. At times was sweet and all you would hope from a New Adult book, at other times it was repetitive and boring. The plot is not original, it has well used themes. But themes that are well used because they work, because readers like them. I know I do!! Hence I was looking forward to it.  It is a story of high school friends who meet again later in life: friends to lovers, second chance in love. And it is the very popular story of a rich guy who falls for feisty and not so rich girl. I like those themes, they are common NA and they work. Well...most of the time they do. The Blurb:  He wasn’t always this rich. This hot. This difficult. Aaric Christos was a guy who protected me. Wanted me. Maybe even loved me. That man is gone. In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city. He’s a cold, ruthless, aggressive businessman. The only one who can save me and ...

Bombshell by CD Reiss- 1.5 stars

Book blurb: "Hollywood bad boy Brad Sinclair always gets his way, whether it’s the role he wants or the bikini-clad model he has to have. But when a bombshell gets dropped in his lap in the form of a dimpled five-year-old from a forgotten relationship, he knows his life is about to change forever. Cara DuMont isn’t exactly thrilled when she gets assigned to be the nanny for the latest box-office king. She has one rule: no celebrity parents! But as soon as Cara meets Brad and his adorable little girl, she knows she’s in for a world of trouble. Because there’s something about the way Brad looks at her that makes her believe that some rules are meant to be broken…" Sounds interesting enough right? Or at the very least a easy late night read for when your brain needs a brake from overly complicate book plots (which happens to me often since I read YA fantasy a lot).  Well, I am sorry to break this to you but this is not what you will get here. The plot is just wrong. The ...

Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff- A wholehearted 100 out of 5 f****** stars!

Dear all, stop all you are doing. I do not care what book you are reading, unless it is Godsgrave: STOP Godsgrave is better! I can almost promise you that. Nevernight was good, it was interesting, different, original... Godsgrave is better! A LOT better! When December comes and the voting begins for best book of the year Mr Kristoff will take my vote.  Absolutely brilliant!  Here is the book blurb for Godsgrave:  Blurb I did not miss one single character from the first book. And I don't mean that in a negative way at wall, I mean it as a compliment. Godsgrave was so freaking epic it doesn't matter if the story begins with Mia and old Mercurio or with Mia in the gladiator pits (or something similar to that anyways). The book deserves praise on its own. The book is gory. Savage. Angry. Bloody. Exactly what you would expect after Nevernight.  Every single character on this epic sequel was outstanding. It is hard to point to just one. They were all...

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare- 2.5/5 stars

Just another Shadowhunter story...  For the book blurb: Lord of Shadows GoodReads   I truly enjoy most Cassandra Clare stories, but I think I am, overall, getting a little tired of their predictability.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book. But there was a lot about it that I could have done without. It also dragged... and I very seldom can stand books that do that.  Lord of Shadows cannot, in my personal opinion be compared to Lady Midnight. LM was a much better book as a whole. The story moved a good paced, nothing felt forced. The same cannot be said about LoS. The good things: - Alec and Magnus give an appearance. One can never have enough of Alec and Magnus.  - Great family dynamics! I loved reading about the Blackthorn siblings in LM and even more here. Without them this book would have been a complete flop. The Blackthorn siblings make this readable and interesting.  - Kieran's character, who I hated in the first book h...

Beautiful Bastart by Christina Lauren - 5/5 stars

OMG! I was still laughing and having giggle fits from this book hours and hours after I finished it. It was phenomenal. “You realize early in life that beauty is only skin-deep and, ugly goes straight to the bone”  This was steamy and hilarious. The main characters, Chloe and Bennett start of hating each other. Truly madly deeply hating each other! Their interactions are nothing short of comical. Even the steamy scenes are to some extend just hilarious. Mr Bennet Ryan is an ass. The boss from nightmares. Incredibly intelligent and accomplished in his business but arrogant and full of himself. He treat his employees like garbage. And that is why she hates him. She had very good reasons too. Now, he hates her for a  different reason. Chloe can dish out as good as she gets. And she does. She infuriates him. But what also infuriates him is that he is attracted to her. That somehow makes things worse, makes him hate her even more. He thinks he can get her out of his sys...

Roar by Cora Carmack - 4/5 stars

Roar was a fun and fast paced YA fantasy. I loved the world in which it was set and most of the characters were very interesting. Roar is about Aurora, and it is about magical storms. Aurora comes from a line of Stormlings, those who possess magic capable of dispelling the fiercest of storms. When she becomes of age she is meant to take her place among her family battling the storms. The problem is that Aurora has not yet shown any sign of magic within herself. In order to keep her secret a marriage is arranged between Aurora and a Stormling prince from another kingdom. He is secretive, dangerous and charming all at once.  Aurora follows him out of the castle one day and discovers there are other ways one can come to possess magic. So the day before the wedding she runs off with a bunch of Storm Hunters on the hopes they will teach her how to catch the heart of a storm and come to possess magic herself. I rather liked Aurora. Her character went through a slow and ste...
