Well Played, Well Matched, and Well Travelled by Jen DeLuca (Well Met Series)

I absolutely love this series by Jen DeLuca but you know... one needs more hours in a day, so it took me a while to finally catch up and finish reading it. My favorite would still be Well Met , now followed by Well Matched . Well Played  is the last one I read. I know... it is horrid I read it out of order, but here we are. Needless to say, I already knew by this point who Dex was, who he was going to end up with, and a little bit about the confusion/lies in this book. It was a very well written story, as are all of Jen Deluca's books. But it was also the least exciting of all 4 books. And not because I already knew what was going to happen but because I didn't personally relate to the characters. They were all wonderful, they just weren't for me. The main relationship is basically catshifing at its best and she forgives him a little too fast. I don't know... good book, still gave a solid 3 1/2 stars, but in comparison with the other 3 books in the series it is lacking ...

The Warlord (Rise of the Warlords #1) by Gena Showalter

I discovered Gena Showalter long after her Lords of the Underworld series had started. I have those books, but I haven't read them all. I have however read many of her other smaller series. My favorite still the one that introduced me to her books in 2018, Shadow and Ice  (Gods of War).  The Warlord  is the start of a new series, but if you have read Lords of the Underworld  some bits will connect. It is not necessary you read them though, gods know I have not. They sit on my middle shelf and I stare at them daily, does that count? hehe Here is the blurb: For centuries, Taliyah Skyhawk has prepared to become Harpy General, leader of the deadliest female army in existence. One of the requirements? Remain a virgin. But, for a chance to save her people, she must wed the fearless leader of the Astra Planeta, Alaroc Phaethon. The time has come for Roc to sacrifice another virgin bride to his god. There has never been a woman alluring enough to tempt him from his path. N...

Electric Idol (Dark Olympus #2) by Katee Robert [arc review]

Blurb: He was the most beautiful man alive. And if I wasn't careful, he was going to be my death. *A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Psyche and Eros that's as sinful as it is sweet.* In the ultra-modern city of Olympus, there's always a price to pay. Psyche knew she'd have to face Aphrodite's ire eventually, but she never expected her literal heart to be at stake...or for Aphrodite's gorgeous son to be the one ordered to strike the killing blow. Eros has no problem shedding blood. But when it comes time to take out his latest target, he can't do it. Confused by his reaction to Psyche, he does the only thing he can think of to keep her safe: he marries her. Psyche vows to make Eros's life a living hell until they find a way out of this mess. But as lines blur and loyalties shift, she realizes he might take her heart after all...and she's not sure she can survive the loss. Electric Idol is Katee's modern take on Eros and Psyche and my first ev...

Witches Get Stitches (Stay a Spell #3) by Juliette Cross [arc review]

Witches Get Stitches by Juliette Cross I don't think Juliette Cross has the power to disappoint me. And that sunnies, is a great thing. There is nothing better than going into a book knowing with absolute certainty that you will love it.  Book 3 in the Stay a Spell  series was just as charming, mesmerizing, romantic, and steamy as the previous books. Is it my favorite of the 3? Close, very close, but no. Mateo my man still tops the cake. And his appearances in this book just fermented that. I loved how many glimpses we got of him and the grims. Their books cannot come soon enough. I know you are all waiting for Jules' book. Well, I'm waiting for my grims, and I sure hope they have a darker edge to them. All that being said, if you are new to this series go ahead! This can easily be read as a stand alone. I would recommend you read them all, but I am obsessed with Juliette Cross... Violet was...interesting. During the first 40% of the book I wanted to bring her out of the pa...

Yes & I Love You by Roni Loren [ALC review]

It is always nice when a book surprises you. Yes & I Love You was more than the title suggests. Yes, it is certainly a romance novel, but it also deals with things most of us don't think about when talking inclusion in books. The main female character, Hollyn, has tourette syndrome and suffers panic attacks. The disease affected the character's daily life but didn't define who she was. The author, Roni Loren,  holds a master’s degree in social work and spent years as a mental health counselor, and it is clear her experiences helped her here. She represented the illness well and did a great job at demonstrating how anxiety and other daily things we take for granted made things harder for Hollyn.   Hollyn is very successful in her field. She runs a popular blog and her word is the law. If she recommends your business or entertainment it is certain it will be successful. But because of her tourettes she hides behind the screen and no one knows what the popular revie...

A Touch of Darkness (Hades & Persephone #1) by Scarlett St. Clair

I knew very little going into this book except that it had my current favorite bad boy in it: Hades! Seriously though, I have a "hades tbr" at the moment, it's a thing. And if you know any good Hades based romances do tell me. Always and forever looking for more. Hades, the God of the Dead was phenomenal. I have ZERO complaints about his character. There was more to the underworld than known by other gods and humans, and the same is true about the man that runs the place. He is to the point and although not always up front and straight forward he is always honest and true. He has built a gambling empire but his bets are not always monetary and they are known for being impossible.  Persephone was very much still learning who she really was. Up until meeting Hades and for some time after she has no power of her own. Plants die at her touch and that is that. She is also known as the goddess of spring, but that is not because of who she is but rather because of who her mother...

Wilde Child (The Wildes of Lindow Castle #6) by Eloisa James [ALC Review]

He wants a prim and proper duchess, not the Wildest of the Wildes! Blurb: Already notorious for the golden hair that proves her mother’s infidelity, Lady Joan can’t seem to avoid scandals, but her latest escapade may finally ruin her: she’s determined to perform the title role of a prince—in breeches, naturally. She has the perfect model for an aristocratic male in mind: Thaddeus Erskine Shaw, Viscount Greywick, a man who scorned the very idea of marrying her. Not that Joan would want such a dubious honor, of course. For years, Thaddeus has avoided the one Wilde who shakes his composure, but he’s horrified when he grasps the danger Joan’s putting herself in. Staring into her defiant eyes, he makes the grim vow that he’ll keep her safe. He strikes a bargain: after one performance, the lady must return to her father’s castle and marry one of three gentlemen whom he deems acceptable. Not including him, of course. The Review: 4.5 Stars This is only my second book by Eloisa James and I am h...

The Best Man Plan (Boots and Bouquets #1) by Jaci Burton, 4.5 Stars

This was such an easy read! One of those books you can loose yourself in and completely lose track of time. I certainly did and pretty much finished this beauty in one sitting.  Three days before Erin Bellini's wedding, her fiancé breaks up with her--in an email! Hurt and embarrassed, she decides to have a fling with veterinarian Jason Callum, who's both the best man and the hottest guy she knows. But Jason wants a lot more than just a one-night stand with the woman he's cared about for years. So he's taking things slow. And hot. And showing Erin what real love can look like. Suddenly Erin finds herself spending a lot more time with Jason than she intended. Feelings she never planned on having again are wrapping around her heart, refusing to let go. Erin isn't sure she can trust her instincts, though. After all, she made a terrible choice with her ex-fiancé. But Jason intends to convince her that he's the best man for her, and that what they have together is a r...

Crazy Cupid Love (Let's Get Mythical #1) by Amanda Heger

A fun, whimsical, and charming story with a touch of Greek mythology. What is not to love?

Encircled in Darkness by H.J. Marshall [arc review]

A few months ago a friend of mine introduced my first HJ Marshall title and I loved it. So of-course, when she told me about her new title I requested it straight away. And boy I'm glad I did! The Blurb: What if someone crawled into the dark with you and offered you a way out? I made a deal to save my sister and became ensnared in a world filled with depravity, finding comfort in the dark recesses of my mind. The wicked feelings deep within can overtake you if you’re left without light for too long, and I reveled in the merciless world that equally thrilled and frightened me. He accepted the darker parts of me, the shame and regret, and made a deal to save me. He brought me back into the light, learning to twist my delights to his will, destroying the shameful fragments that remained. Redeeming me with his touch, he destroyed the pain that tore through my heart. He was a dangerous man who became my monster and my hero, recognizing the wicked parts of me and welcoming them. Knowing ...

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (The Hunger Games #0) by Suzanne Collins

This prequel of the beloved Hunger Games trilogy is absolutely fantastic. This story has the ability to be read as a stand alone, as you do not need previous knowledge of the original three books. However, it does give insight to situations and reactions in the trilogy. This book makes you sympathize with the loathsome antagonist from the main series, President Snow.  The plot follows orphaned Coriolanus Snow as an eighteen year old about to graduate from the capitol's academy. Him and twenty-three other classmates are chosen to participate as the first ever mentors to the tributes in the games. As it is announced who was assigned to what district and what gender. Snow is assigned the district twelve girl-- which he perceives as a personal insult due ...

The Last King (The Kings #1) by Katee Robert

The Last King, Katee Robert  For those who don't know I run a Romance Book Club at  Inklings Bookshop  in Washington State. Katee Robert will (hopefully, no one wants this COVID madness to last that long), be in our store this August with a bunch of other amazing authors and I wanted to introduce my book club to her. I like a little spice on my books so although I've read her books, it was her Mafia Romance series and not this one. Well, I guess now I found another series to be hooked on, it was fab :)

From Alaska With Love by Ally James [arc review]

From Alaska with Love, Ally James Sometimes it is good to go blind into a book. From Alaska with Love  was that for me. I knew it was a romance but I could not remember the blurb and didn't re-read it. It was SO GOOD! One of those easy to read, feel good romances that leaves you with a smile on your face and feeling better about the world!

Marriage on Madison Avenue (Central Park Pact #3) by Lauren Layne [arc review]

Marriage on Madison Avenue, Lauren Layne From New York Times bestselling author Lauren Layne, comes the final installment of the Central Park Pact series, a heartfelt and laugh-out-loud romantic comedy that’s perfect for fans of Sally Thorne and Christina Lauren.

Wolf Gone Wild (Stay A Spell #1) by Juliette Cross [arc review]

Wolf Gone Wild, Juliette Cross Will I ever not like a Juliette Cross book? No, no I won't!  Wolf Gone Wild was the perfect mixture of shifter glory, humor and sexiness.  Yes, 'shifter glory' is a thing. Go with it!

Unbreak Me by Michelle Hazen with Adenrele Ojo Narrating [arc review]

"An unlikely pair take on their pasts together in this endearing contemporary tale of love through emotional hardship. Hazen writes with grace and compassion about life after trauma, smoothly addressing racism, sexual assault, and large-scale disasters without pat answers or platitudes."— Publishers Weekly

Pestilence (The Four Horsemen #1) by Laura Thalassa

This book had been sitting on my kindle for a while, and now that the second one was released - War - I thought it was time to stop procrastinating and read it. I am glad I did :) Blurb: They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all. When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed. Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.  Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her … and hers towards him.  And now,...

Never Fall in Love with a Rockstar by Rachel Higginson [arc review]

Never Fall n Love with a Rockstar I have a weakness for Rock Star Romances... So needless to say, there was a good chance I was going to love this from the gecko. And love it I did!!!

Unbroken Cowboy (Gold Valley #5) by Maisey Yates [arc review]

Maisey Yates is a new author to me and I am happy to say I will be reading from her again. This book was everything I didn't know I wanted. Once I started reading it I could not stop!

Hot to the Touch (Brotherhood by Fire #1) by Jaci Burton [arc review]

This was not what I was expecting, but not in a bad way. I LOVED the story.  It was sweet and touching and had plenty of steamy moments too.  A good romance book all around!
