Glimpses Of My Books

I don't read monster romance, I have tried a few and found it is not for me. All the tentacles and slime and whatnot are not for me at all. But I find that I enjoy alien romance a lot. Especially when the anatomy is not too different. This series was great. The exact amount of cheesiness and humor I wanted this past week. It reminds me very much of my favorite romance subgenre of all time - paranormal romance with shapeshifters, wolves and bears to be exact.  The first book in the series is Sign Here for Horns. Our heroine purchases herself an alien worker to help around the farm just to find out that he is a saikh. A saikh is a male concubine and trained to pleasure females in all ways possible. Their relationship is both funny and sweet. All he wants to do is pleasure her and all she wants (at least to start) is getting her farm working. Their different views on what and how to pleasure surely made for many funny scenes. Although slavery very obviously exists in this series, she...

My first thought upon finishing this book was that it would make a fantastic movie! The book tells the story of Linda, a gentle soul living in Seattle, alone and lonely. She spends most of her time locked up in her apartment with very little contact with the outside world. As the story progresses you find out why. Linda is a replacement child. Her mother found a way to 'make' her in order to replace her previous daughter that died. But Linda was not her, and could never replace her. Let's start off by saying that both these books need to come with heavy trigger warnings. If you have problems with just about anything that can be seen as 'wrong' or 'off putting', and I do mean anything  walk away. These books are not for you. Tillie Cole does not shy away from the dark and disturbing. Specially in the first book. She was a new author to me with Raphael  and I absolutely loved the book. I have already purchased an older title by her. I have been very much into dark romance lately and to find one that is so dark it can be uncomfortable to read, intense, creative, and yet also heartwarming and touching is not easy. Raphael has more darkness and intensity than Jegudiel, not the character, but the book as a whole. Overall I liked Raphael a smidge more, but that is not to say Diel's book wasn't great, it was. I read a good amount of older releases this past two months. I will not write long individual reviews for every single one of them but here are is a little bit about each one of them:  - Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh It's unlikely I will ever dislike something Nalini writes. She is a master of her craft. This is the second book in the Psy-Changeling series and it is just as good as the first. Shy and isolated Faith is plagued by visions of blood and murder. She has questions and needs help but can't ask those around her. She turns to the changelings and the only Psy she knows that has defied her race (first book in the series). Vaughn is more cat than human but has to control his instincts not to scare Faith away. Convict, Hayley Faiman This was my very first read by Hayley Faiman and it will most certainly not be the last. I am actually happy to say I own two more of her books already and can get started on it straight away. The book was 100% not what I was expecting. I knew little of her writing style or the series going into it besides the cover and the blurb. Both of which, to me, make Convict  sounds like a dark romance. That is not what this is at all. It is passionate, suspenseful, and the main characters backgrounds is a little dark. But it is not a dark romance. It is really really sweet. It has been some time since I've had to write one of these. I've read a lot of books these last two months and haven't really had the time to sit and write a long review on every single on of them.   In Five Years by Rebecca Serle was easily one of my favorite reads last year and I was very excited to read this book by her. I am not 100% sure what the exactly release date was but I think the print book was released in 2014 and Simon and Schuster picked up in audio format this year. It was released (re-released?) Waking the Watcher Denying the Watcher Releasing the Watcher This serieswas a fun paranormal and erotica trilogy. Each book focuses on a different couple but the background story on the first two books gets resolved in book 3, and as such, the series should not be read out of order. The title of this gem is so accurate and appropriate that if you were to describe the book in two words it would easily be Highland Gladiator ! 😊
